WhatsApp is preparing to introduce UPI LITE feature for its users soon, so that the short amount transactions will be done without putting a PIN. According to a report, this feature will allow users to make faster and easy payment, especially when the server is busy. During the APK Tierdown of the latest beta version 2.25.5.17 of Whatsapp, the code strings associated with this feature have been spotted. It is believed that users will also be able to make money ad and with money on this platform. However, this feature will only work on the device on which it would have been set.

This feature will work on the UPI system, which has been developed by National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). The UPI Lite is specially designed for those payments which are less than 500 rupees. The biggest advantage of this will be that users will be able to pay without internet connection.

Code strings in APK Tierdown made by Android Authority have also revealed that WhatsApp Users can allow users to add money to their wallet and withdraw if needed. However, once the UPI Lite is activated on a device, it will be limited to the same device and will not get multi-device support. Whatsapp is already offering UPI based payment service on its platform, but UPI Lite can make its payment system easier.

Significantly, WhatsApp is working on increasing financial services for Indian users. Earlier it was reported that the company is planning to add bill payments facilities on its platform. This may include facilities like mobile recharge, electricity, water, gas, postpaid landline and rent payment. If whatsapp makes all the features live, it can give a direct competition to platforms like Paytm, PhonePe and Google Pay.
