OnePlus Nord 2T 5G Review: Mid Range all -rounder at the right price!

After upgrading something lightly in Nord 2, almost everything is available in the new OnePlus Nord 2T 5G. The first ‘T’ model of OnePlus is not a brand new phone, but the basics have become good in it such as a good midrange processor, an upgraded fast charging system, a quality display and the capable primary camera in which OIS support is also available. Rather, say it, it has everything that a user needs a little less money i.e. at the beginning of Rs 28,999.

But its rivals are also there, like Realme 9 Pro+ 5G (Review), which offers similar hardware at a lower price. Then how does Nord 2T 5G compete in its segment and is it a perfect midnar smartphone? I used this phone a few weeks and here I am telling what I think about it.

OnePlus Nord 2T 5G price in India

OnePlus Nord 2T 5G It starts at Rs 28,999 with its 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variants and goes up to Rs 33,999 with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. The phone comes in Greenish Z fog and gray shadow finish. I found its 12GB gray shadow variant for review.

OnePlus Nord 2T 5G design

There is no major change in the design of OnePlus Nord 2T 5G, especially because it is the ‘T’ version of the phone, which is expected that it will only come with some mild changes in the hardware. Nevertheless, some details have been replaced inside the design, which are more visible in the rear itself. Two circular cutouts now appear in the camera module. One has a primary camera and the other is given for ultravide and monochrome camera. The layout of the phone looks clean and tidy, but the module is slightly out of the phone’s body. With this, the phone is staggering on placing it in a flat place.

OnePlus

The rear panel is made of anti glare glass and has a soft matte finish, which looks quite premium. It also works well to prevent fingers. The midframe of the phone is made of polycarbonate and has a chrome -like finish on which fingers are very high. But because of this, hand grip on the device makes good. The phone is heavy and gives premium feel in hand. I am happy that this time the alert slider is present in OnePlus in the same way, which is expensive than this OnePlus 10R 5G Was removed in

The display has light curved edges and is not completely flat. It gives good grip experience. It has a holepanch for the selfie camera. The fingerprint scanner is also given in the display which is reliable. The display has a protection of Corning Gorilla Glass 5, on which the fingerprints fall easily, but can also be cleaned quickly. I did not like the thick bezel of its display. It looks quite thick while looking at the remaining three sides.

OnePlus Nord 2T 5G specifications and software

OnePlus Nord 2T 5G has a MediaTek Dimensity 1300 processor. Dimensity 1200-II SoC was given in the previous model. This is the only main upgrade with this model. The phone has LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. It has a dual SIM tray in which two 5G nano SIMs can be installed. It has the support of Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC for communication. The phone has 4,500mAh battery and 80W fast charging support. It should be noted that 65W fast charging was given in Nord 2. The phone does not get an IP rating, while this feature is now common in the midrange.

The phone runs on Android 12 based oxygenos 12.1. The software is similar to OnePlus, but this time I saw a strange lapse in it that it has not been given live wallpapers, only capable wallpapers are available. For support, the company promises two big Android updates and a three -year security update which is a good thing for a mid -range device.

OnePlus

OnePlus has introduced a smartphone with at least blotware while continuing its tradition. In third party apps I found only Netflix in it. I did not get unwanted notifications. The rest of the software is worth customized. The theme engine automatically picks the wallpaper colors and applies it to the widgets and keyboard. But the same color is not applied on the accent color of the system, it has to be applied manually from the Personalization Menu.

OnePlus Nord 2T 5G performance

OnePlus Nord 2T 5G performs well in benchmark test according to a midrange device. The phone scored 6,15,487 points on AnuTuu. It scored 672 and 2,614 points respectively in single and multi -core tests on Geekbench. This score with this price range IQoo Neo 6 There were less than 7,29,331 on AnTuTu and scored 983 and 3,074 points in Geekbench’s single and multi -core tests respectively.

OnePlus

The gaming performance of the phone is good and the phone is not very hot while playing. I saw Call of Duty: Mobile and Asphalt 9: Legends playing in it. Both games went to Smudli in default settings. There was no decrease in performance even when graphic settings are maximum. While playing the fast pace title, the 180Hz refreshed rate of the display was sufficient.

The phone has a 6.43 -inch AMOLED panel with a refresh rate of 90Hz. The company says it is HDR10+ Certified. The default produces saturated colors on the vivid color setting. Colors look real on natural mode. The display in the outdoor shines in the right amount, but its ambient light sensor makes the brightness too much when he comes into the indoor and after coming in, I had to go to the brightness and upwards.

OnePlus

Its HDR10+ certification did not work much. Apps in apps like Netflix did not get HDR rated detect. Color banding was felt while watching HDR content on YouTube. SD content sharp showed and black looked quite deep. The sound of the stereo speakers was good but the sound on the high volume was lightly bursting.

OnePlus Nord 2T 5G battery life is good. In simple use, the phone removes two days comfortably, including some gaming. The phone runs for a day and a half with 2 hours of gaming and half an hour camera use in heavy usage. The phone lasted 22 hours 55 minutes in HD video loop test, which is quite impressed. The phone with the charger coming with it was charged in 0 to 55 percent 15 minutes and was fully charged in 30 minutes.

OnePlus Nord 2T 5G camera

OnePlus Nord 2T 5G has three rear cameras. It has a 50 -megapixel Sony IMX766 primary sensor with OIS support. There is an 8 -megapixel ultravide camera and a 2 -megapixel monochrome camera. For selfie, the phone has a 32 -megapixel camera. The camera interface is similar to the recent OnePlus phones. Some options are hidden in the mini slide out menu in the Alipsis button. This is the same as it is found in the recently launched Oppo and Realme devices.

The photos taken in the day-light were sharp and clear, which was good dynamic range, but the details found some less in the dark area. Colors looked accurate but it depended on the color profile I set how the colors are seen. They looked oversaturated when set in Vivid. Its 2x digital zoom is quite shocked, which took quite clear shots in sufficient light. Ultravide camera takes photos with low details. Purple was seen on the edges in the photo at more bright places.

The primary camera cannot replace a dedicated macro camera, yet I took good close shots of flowers with primary camera from some distance that looked quite sharp. The sharpness looked more in selfie but overall the dynamic range was good. Edge detection in portrait shots in selfie was good, but the dynamic range was limited and background was taking overaxpose.

Low- Ultra wide camera takes a photo usable in light. The primary camera also takes a sharp photo in which details and dynamic range were good. In very low light, I had to use it deadly night mode. I will only say about this that the low light performance of the phone was not always found to be affected. In night mode, it captured the image with a better dynamic range and low noise but the sharpness became more. I have seen the Realme 9 Pro+ 5G to see the better low-light camera performance.

The phone records 1080p video on 30fps with light softness but stabilization was found amazing. 1080p videos of 60fps found less details. While recording the video in 4K, the best results were received on 30fps. At the same time, while recording video in low-light, 4K got the best results. 1080p footage in low-light looked soft and she was also shake while walking.

Our decision

OnePlus Nord 2T 5G gives everything that a user can expect from a mid -range phone at its price of Rs 28,999. It neither goes up nor comes down from it. The phone performs within its limit, whether it is a processor (absolutely midrange), a camera (without macro feature) or display (limited to 90Hz). But whatever it performs, it does in a good way. At this price it comes as an all -rounder. However, its 12GB RAM (Rs 33,999) variants are more useful because Nothing Phone 1 For example, smartphones are offering more features like wireless charging and IP53 at this price.

If you are watching other options other than Nord 2T 5G, then there are brands like IQO and Realme which are giving more value for money smartphones. The IQoo Neo 6 has powerful Snapdragon 870 SoC, 120Hz Amoled display and 4,700mAh battery. It comes for Rs 29,999. Realme 9 Pro+ 5G has Dimensity 920 SoC, similar primary camera, a macro camera and the same 90Hz amoled panel but it starts at Rs 24,999 with 6GB variants.
