India Mobile Congress 2024 New Innovations AI Startups 6G Will Make New Digital India

Prem Tripathi, returning from IMC 2024.

IMC 2024: India’s largest technology fair, India Mobile Congress (IMC 2024) appeared to draw a new streak this year. After filtering the event for two days, it was understood that the talk in the field of tech has now gone far from 5G and we are going to dive into the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI). In the dream that Digital India had seen a few years ago, we have moved so much that the world is seeing us as 6G leader.

Every pavilion of IMC reflects and states that Indian companies, our start -ups and educational institutions are writing new events in research and development to product innovation. So why not start with Educational Institute?

Knowledge Innovation Lab and IIIT Kottayam are showing such technology in IMC, using which the Kerala Police is solving difficult cases with difficulty. It is called vemp (virtual event management platform). After reaching any crime scene, the police officers take pictures of the scene from their 5G enabled smartphones, make videos. Then they are uploaded to the vemp.

The vemp converts the entire crimecene into the metavors to virtual 3D. This makes it easier for police officers to investigate the case, especially when the case is handed over to the new team. Youngsters, who came out of IIIT, now want to add infrared to this technique, after which there will be no need to take photos from mobile. Infrared will capture the crime scene with more accuracy.

Like IIIT, passout students from Delhi Technological University (DTU) have formed a company called Garg Defense and Aerospace. A few months old startups have prepared many types of drones, one of which has started using Kamikaze drone in the field of defense. The pride at the stall and his colleague said that Kamikaz is a suicide drone and takes power only by dealing with his target. These students are trying to fund their startups to give growth.

We arrived at another IIT booth. A formal conversation with a professor met at the booth of IIT BHU. This prestigious institution of India has prepared several research papers on 6G. The conversation here was that India could be the most unlike in launching 6G mobile networks. When we questioned the manufacturing of 6G equipment, Professor Saheb admitted that it is still difficult to challenge China in manufacturing.

Jio, Airtel, VI ‘one side’, BSNL has caught a different path!

Like every year in IMC 2024, this time also the booths of Jio, Airtel and Voda-Idea are nearby. We have seen gaming in Jio’s some innovation like- Virtual World. I liked the concept of Claude PC. Jio says that when ‘Jio Claude PC’ is launched, people will be able to convert their smartV into PC. He will only need Jio’s internet connection and a subscription of cloud PC. Then the TV can be used like an all -rounder PC by attaching the keyboard and mouse.

Airtel, drenched with red color, has also demonstrated many techniques in IMC, but sight is on satellite internet communication. Just as Alan Musk’s company Starlink is providing its satellite internet services to the world, Airtel is also doing this work in collaboration with OneWeb. Satellite internet service has not started in India for the common people yet, but it is beginning to use the initial use in the field of defense.

I felt Voda-Idea booth beyond confidence. The VI booth, which was far behind in launching the 5G mobile network, was more crowded than Jio-aiTel. However, the reason for this is not the technique, but the arrival of YouTuber and the crowd to be excited to take pictures with him.

BSNL booth is also full this year at a short distance from Jio, Airtel, VI stall. There was a time when people used to call BSNL ‘even God’. The same BSNL IMC is selling its 5G Ready SIM in 2024 for just Rs 250. The company is assuring people that its 4G and 5G networks are going to be launched soon.

IMC 2024 also has large players like Ericson, Quolcom, Nokia, STL, TCS, Intel, AMD. MediaTek is also there. Ericson’s booth has robot dog, Quolcomm’s booth has new Redmi A4 5G smartphones such as ‘fancy’ showcases. AMD, Intel are showing the AI ability of their processors. Nokia’s booth is technically more rich. Many more companies have seen, which came to the event with B2B (Business to Business) model.

India Mobile Congress will be held today on 17 and tomorrow October 18, keeps interesting in technology and innovation, then come to India’s Bharat Mandapam.
