Audio Technica AthM20XBT Wireless Headphones Review: Sound quality is amazing, but the price is more!

Before Bluetooth and wireless headphones became popular, there was a well-known name in the segment of Audio-Technica wired headphones. This does not mean that this Japanese brand has lost its relevance or importance, but its new products still seem inspired by the credibility of some old products, such as Monitor Grade M-Series Studio Headphones. The product I am going to review is a refreshed Bluetooth powered version of an old product.

Audio-Technica Ath-M20X exists long back and used to be a popular product with a fair price for the studio monitor sound at one time. Now the company has launched its wireless version as the latest product. Audio-technica ath-m20xbt The price in India is Rs 13,500. This gives its old fans a chance to experience the same unique sound signature with wireless connectivity. With a 60 -hour battery life, multi -point connectivity and optional wired connectivity, is it the best wireless overrier headset for less than Rs 15,000 that you can buy now? Find out in this review.

Audio-technica ath-m20xbt design and specifications

Audio-technica ath-m20xbt is a wireless version of its classic and wired model Audio-Technica Ath-M20X. It is the same to see. The headset has a good overwear fit, comfortable padding is given around the ears and on the headbend, and the metal frame connecting both year cups is given. The design elements have other similarities in the form of Ath-M20X in the sides, gentle is the headband to adjust and telescopic, and the headband has an exposed audio wire.

The headset is currently available in black color only. Its weight is 216 grams. According to the size, the weight of the headphones is not so much, it makes it feel light and comfortable. The padding given around the year cup completely covers the ears completely.

I did not find its positive noise isolation to influence it. It did not take much effective to stop the sound coming from outside. However, one of the advantages of this was that I did not have to remove the headphones from the ears to let me get out. Its fit is that the outside air comes in as per the need.

The old model also gives some differences in its design that are given for control and button. These include stereo socket for wired listing, a USB type C port for charging, and there are three buttons to control the playback and volume that are given in the left side. The sales package also features a stereo cable for USB Type-A to Type-C charging cable and wired connectivity. But unfortunately, no carry case for headphones is found together.

Audio-Technica Ath-M20XBT uses SBC and AAC Bluetooth Kodex support for primary connectivity with B Bluetooth 5. The headphone has a 40mm dynamic driver, 5 to 32,000Hz frequency response range, 100DB rated sensitivity and 36OHMS. There is a microphone on the M20XBT, allowing you to use it as a hands-filled headset.

It has a multi -point connectivity so that you can pair and connect two devices simultaneously. Here the headphone keeps switching between the two on the basis of its intelligence. It depends on what kind of content is being played or a call is being received. Active noise cancellation is not available in the headset nor the app is given. It does not even have a wear detection sensor, that is, it cannot detect it by itself. This deficiency leads the headset from rivals like Sony, JBL and Sennheiser.

Audio-Technica Ath-M20XBT performance and battery life

Audio-technica falls slightly behind in terms of Ath-M20XBT features. But when it comes to sound quality, it offers a lot. Being a wireless version of Ath-M20X, it gives the same sonic tuning, but with the facility of wireless connectivity. I would not say that M20XBT gives a completely M20X sound quality, because wired connectivity always gives better sounds than wireless connectivity. Yes, but M20XBT reaches very close to it.

Audio-technica ath-m20xbt gives the same neutral, studio friendly sound for which M-series is popular. There are very good audible details in the sound. It is also able to do this pin-point to the buried elements, which gives the experience with studio monitor. This was the same experience with different zones and tracks. However, its sonic suits more in signature and tone, slow and detail orientid tracks. Truth of Kamasi Washington found a wonderful experience to hear that other products of this price range could hardly achieve.

The slow progress of this Jazz track was drawing towards it, delivering every gentle hit of the headphone drum, with a spectacular piano elements with a brilliant prochein for the Saxophone Refs and wireless headset. In Arambol of Astropilot, I got a chance to listen to the stereo separation of the headphones. Along with the frequency range, specific elements were also heard. The base was not very tight, the focus of the headphones was on delivery of neutral, flat sound, not polished and refined sounds like more expensive wireless headphones.

M20XBT looked stuck in tuning in a busy track. Perhaps the advanced codec support here could have increased the overall sound. The headset is only supported by SBC and AAC codec, which feels staggering many times.

audio

Overall, Bluetooth is a problem here. It is much more connected to its roots like a wired headset. It can be said that it has not been tuned for the weak wireless input of Bluetooth. The problems that are listening to the cable by plug-in are reduced but you have not given Rs 13,500 for this adjustment.

Call quality in indoor is good. Connectivity is also stable and works very well up to 4 meters from source device. The battery life of the headphones is also very good. It lasts for 48 hours in single charge, listening to music continuously on moderate volumes.

Our decision

Audio-technica consumer is a considered name in headphones and Ath-M20XBT itself is an iconic product. But this is not enough here. The headset has a montir grade sound like its wired version which is very good, but some shortcomings push it back. The price of the headset is very high and it has not been supported by Advanced Bluetooth codec.

This wireless connectivity for fans of Audio-Technica M-series gives convenience, but according to the price it is lacking in features. It has neither active noise cancellation nor app support, nor has some extra features besides Bluetooth connectivity. It is a very good pair of headphones for use but it should have been priced below Rs 13,500.
