ITEL A50 Was recently launched in the budget segment in India. The smartphone has been introduced in the entry-level segment, where its main rival is Poco C61 launched in March this year. Despite having a low price, ITEL has tried to give all practical specifications in the A50. I used this smartphone a few weeks and found that Itel A50 performs better than expected in some parts. However, as every smartphone is accompanied by model, the Itel A50 also has some parts where improvement is needed. ITEL A50: Price in India

ITEL A50 has been launched in two configurations in India. Its base 3GB RAM and 64GB storage variants have been priced at Rs 6,099 and 4GB RAM and 64GB storage (we have been reviewed) were launched for Rs 6,499. The phone has been introduced in Mist Black, Lime Green, Sian Blue and Shimmer Gold color options. The company claims that the buyers of it will also get free screen replacement for the initial 100 days of purchasing.

ITEL A50: Design and Display

As we said, the smartphone has been introduced in the entry-level segment. However, I liked its design in terms of low price. The phone has the iPhone-inspired camera island, which has two camera sensors and one LED flash inside three large rings. It is relatively thick with 8.7mm thickness, but the display is slightly embossed keeping its plastic frame thinner, due to which it did not feel thicker. At the same time, it does not seem heavy in terms of weight. I had Cyan Blue color for review, which gets a glossy back panel. A texture with wavy lines is found on the panel, which shines when the lights fall. At the same time, there are coarse bezels around the display, but they cannot be called too fat in terms of entry-level offer. There are power budget and volume rockers on the right side of the frame, whose placement is also good. There is a fingerprint sensor on the power button, which is accurate and unlock the phone rapidly without any hassle. Itel A50: Performance

ITEL A50 is a 4G smartphone, with an octa-core Unisoc T603 budget chipset. It is a 12nm chipset, which comes with Mali G57 MP1 GPU. The gaming level performance cannot be expected from the chipset, but it handled my everyday task comfortably. I had its 4GB RAM variant, which I used during my entire review used virtual RAM. The RAM management was average and two to three apps were loaded in the background for some time. I felt a leg several times while switching between heavy social media apps, but scrolling and app loading was smooth.

ITEL A50 scored 219 in a single-core test in the Geekbench Test and 857 in multi-core test. At the same time, it obtained a score of 151565 in AnTuTu benchmark testing. Certainly a big score cannot be expected from the entry-level segment smartphone. A50 is not made for heavy gaming. It walked on graphics intensive games base graphics settings like Call of Duty: Mobile and BGMI and saw a lot of legs during gaming. Virtual RAM did not help me much here. However, the phone was comfortably handled by Ludo, Candy Crush Saga, Clash of Clans, the phone was comfortably handled by the phone. The good thing is that even after about 30 to 40 minutes of continuous gaming, the phone did not heat up.

ITEL A50: Software and Battery

ITEL A50 runs on Android 14 (Go Edition), which is a light weight system. However, here too I get to see plenty of blotware in the first boot, most of which could have been removed. In the use of a while, I was spam by native apps with notifications. However, disabled some apps also ended this problem. Being an entry-level smartphone, I was expecting this to happen. The UI of Go Edition is clean and simple and easy to understand. Even after fully updated, my review unit was running on the security patch of June 5, which was about to be about three months old by the time of writing the review.

The ITEL A50 has a 5000mAh capacity battery unit. The phone lasted about one and a half days comfortably with everyday tasks including social media scrolling, calling and content streaming. Android Go Edition does not record screen time, due to which I was unable to test the HD video loop in it. It gets 10W charging support and in the box you also get charging brick of this capacity. With this, the phone was charged in 30 minutes in 30 minutes, 38 percent in one hour and 100 percent in 3 hours 30 minutes.

Itel A50: Camera

The ITEL A50 offers a dual rear camera setup, which includes the AI-backd 8-megapixel primary sensor. A LED flash is also given in the camera island. The front for selfie and video calling includes a 5-megapixel sensor with a centenary flash feature.

Captures pictures of average quality from the main rear sensor in daylight. Colors were good in samples photographs, but there was a lack of sharpness. Details were present on the subject at the focus, but other parts were dull. The camera was not so tested, but one of the two to three shots was worth sharing on social media with light-hearted editing. A portrait mode is also available here, which tries to give a bokeh effect by separating the subject and background and is somewhat successful. However, the edge detection here did not work properly. Being an entry-level smartphone, it would not be right to expect too much from the camera setup. Overall, the rear camera of ITEL A50 can give you some good shots in the daylight.

The primary camera performed average even in low light. Noys appear in the viewfinder while taking pictures in the indoor, but after capturing the shot, the software processing removed the noys. However, many times the details from the picture were also wasted. Similar to the delay, you may have to make more than one effort in search of a good shot here too. However, the good thing is that some shots were worth sharing on social media with good contrast and natural colors.

The selfie taken in the daylight came well. There was a natural tone on the face, but some shots were short of details. Edge detection in portrait mode was also not accurate. At the same time, shots taken with artificial lights at night were also average. If there is a decrease in light, then the screen flash feature in it may be useful. The good thing was that the skin tone of the subject with screen flash was natural and the details were also captured in the picture.

A video can be recorded on maximum 1080p 30fps from both front and rear camera sensors. The videos captured with day lights and indoor lights were below the average. The videos were quite unstable with the lack of details. Along with the viewfinder, the video captured was also seen in the captured video. As I mentioned above, expecting more than the camera system in this price range will be unfair with ITEL A50.

Itel A50: Should you buy it?
